An Annual First Aid Refresher course is strongly recommended by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) in order to ensure that first aiders remain competent and have the confidence to deliver first aid should the need arise.
The Annual First Aid Refresher course is a half day course designed to cover the main content of the 6 hour Emergency First Aid at Work course, the 18 hour First Aid at Work course, the 6 hour Emergency Paediatric First Aid course and the 12 hour Paediatric First Aid course.
This Annual First Aid Refresher course meets HSE requirements and includes theory, practical skills and group tasks and discussion. The aim of the course is to allow you to revisit key knowledge and skills with an instructor, which will highlight and correct any gaps in your knowledge. The course also provides the opportunity to discuss any incidents that have occurred in the workplace in the last year and any issues that you are concerned about. The annual refresher course is vital to maintain the correct knowledge and skills to deliver first aid competently and confidently.
The Annual First Aid Refresher course should be completed annually until the full first aid qualification must be obtained again, which is usually every three years.
